My mission and method is to assist each client in feeling physical improvement and progress after each session. For some, the relief of muscle tension, tendon pain, and range of motion limitations is dramatic and for others, it can be subtle.
EXPERIENCE
Going on 22 years as a Maryland licensed Massage Therapist. My career began in Spa settings, then began a private mobile practice along with working w/ Medical Doctors,Chiropractors and OBGYN's. Currently my practice has been closely focused on medical issues, range of motion, prevention and rehabilitation, utilizing a combination of Deep tissue, Orthopedic,Trigger point and Myofascial modalities.
THE IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION
Massage is heavily reliant on communication and feedback. The New Client intake is a form of thorough questioning regarding what your body does and how is it moving throughout the day. This information is crucial to designing a protocol for each client, which often evolves per session with progression.
SCOPE OF PRACTICE
The Hippocratic Oath: "First do no harm". This oath is about integrity and knowing the scope of my practice. When massage is helpful and when massage is potentially harmful. When it's appropriate to refer out to another medical professional. Often, surgeons and Physical Therapists suggest massage therapy as a form of rehabilitation. I may ask clients to please obtain a Doctor's consent for massage.
WHO MY CLIENTS ARE
Engineers, student athletes, adult athletes, trainers, retirees, hard laborers, Physicians, IT techs, massage therapists, teachers, professors, nurses, lawyers, hair stylists, dental hygienists, expectant Mothers, psychotherapists, paramedics, Firefighters, small business owners, large business owners, salespersons, those who commute and those who work from home. The list goes on.
CONTINUING EDUCATION
Massage therapy and continuing education is ongoing. The MD board of massage therapy requires a specific amount of coursework every 2 years. Historically I've geared the coursework towards the kind of massage I do mostly, unrelated to the Spa type of environment, focusing on Anatomy and Physiology.
